Abstract

The economy of Kalimantan Utara Province is based on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) based on the current market prices for the first quarter of 2021 reaching Rp. 26.32 trillion and at 2010 constant market prices of Rp. 15.29 trillion.
The economy of Kalimantan Utara Province in the first quarter of 2021 against the first quarter of 2020 contracted by 1.91 percent (y-on-y), better than the achievement in the fourth quarter of 2020 which contracted by 4.76 percent. From the production side, the highest growth was achieved by the Health Service Business Field at 8.17 percent. From the expenditure side, the highest growth was for the components of imports of goods and services by 0.78 percent.
The economy of Kalimantan Utara Province in the first quarter of 2021 against the fourth quarter of 2020 grew by 0.49 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, the increase was caused by several business fields, including mining and quarrying by 7.37 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the highest growth was in the Export of Goods and Services component at 6.15 percent.
Spatially, the economic growth of Kalimantan Island in the first quarter of 2021 contracted by 2.23 percent. Economic growth contraction occurred in all provinces in Kalimantan. Kalimantan Selatan Province by 1.25 percent; Kalimantan Barat Province by 0.10 percent; Kalimantan Timur Province by 1.91 percent; Kalimantan Tengah Province by 3.12 percent and Kalimantan Timur Province by 2.96 percent.
On the island of Kalimantan, the economic contribution was still dominated by Kalimantan Timur Province at 49.37 percent and the lowest was Kalimantan Utara Province at 8.04 percent, but it had a tendency to always increase.
