Why Economic Census Should be Held?

Every decision should be taken based on valid and accurate information. Economic Census conducted to obtain intact portrait of the nation's economy, as a cornerstone of policy formulation of national and regional development planning.

By documenting businesses in all sectors (except agriculture), we will be able to produce a complete picture of level and structure of the non-agricultural economy, along with their basic informations and characteristics. It will also provide a better view of the business competitiveness in Indonesia, as well as the provision of business information needs.

What Methods are Used in Economic Census 2016?

      1. Business / Company listing Methods:

Enumeration is conducted in all regions of the Republic of Indonesia, covering all economic activities.

2.  Data Collection on the Characteristics of Micro Business Methods:

Enumeration is conducted by sampling, based on the listing result of Economic Census 2016.

3.  Data Collection on the Characteristics of Medium and Large Scale Business / Company Methods:

Conducted a census for all medium and large scale businesses / companies in Indonesia.


Economic Census 2016 coverage

Non-agricultural businesses / companies:

  • At the fixed / permanent location (malls, offices, markets, etc.)
  • At non-permanent location (street, unregularly market, etc.)
  • Street Business
  • In the households (stalls)

  • Orange color, means vibrant economic activity. The enthusiasm of welcoming a big celebration in economy which is held once in ten years and expected to be felt by the entire nation.
  • Yellow, to draw the attention of everyone who sees and easy to remember.
  • Black, symbolizes the strength and determination to produce statistical data in various  economic field, a result of the preparation with the latest methodologies and considering various inputs so that it becomes Indonesia's economic statistical data basis for planning and evaluation of government policies, employers, and society
